Last week, we talked about plan fails. Today, its diet fails. You know the one, right? We’re all guilty. Yesterday, was my wedding anniversary (don’t ask how may years) – so we went out for a posh dinner. Thus, my dietary intake looked like this:

  • 4pm – avocado, salmon, eggs + berries, banana & yoghurt smoothie.
  • 6pm – octopus salad, sea bass + veggies & frites. Double chocolate brownie fudge sundae.

Spot the diet fails? Yep. It wasn’t the octopus.

This may shock you. You may have the impression that I’m a Zen monk, feeding off moss while I meditate over the Tibetan plains. I’m really not. I’m just a Life Guide. Just a human like you. Perhaps, the difference between me and most other humans, is I’ve found some kind of medium with my health and with my diet. One which works for me, a balance between enjoyment and sensibility; something that keeps my life, health and medical conditions in check.

Yeah, Cailey, you call yourself a Life Guide but I can’t have my first meal at 4pm. And I hate berries. Let’s not even get into the octopus. So, what kind of diet advice is that?

Well, it’s not. I try not to give any advice. I try only to help you find your path, your diet. The one that works for you. Because we’re all different, we’re all unique.

But here’s the rub. I try. I’m far from perfect. I have days that I win and days that I lose. And days like yesterday, where I trip up at the final hurdle and get the silver medal. But at least I tried. And I’ll keep trying. And, if I have a week with more winning days than losing, then it’s been a good week. Then a good week can become a good month and a good month can become good year. And years make up a lifetime.

So, today’s whisper? Forget perfect diet plans. But maybe see if you can diet fail less. Try and move the diet chart to the green. Keep a control on the calories. A healthy, well-balanced diet, with less junk and more whole foods. A relationship with food where you enjoy eating and not scared to get on the scales.
